Se trata de una obra puramente vocal en la que se van alternando un estribillo con varias estrofas.

El título viene sugerido por los cantos imaginarios de las vestales, guardianas del fuego sagrado en la antigua Roma.

El estribillo, rítmico y repetitivo va alternando, como un diálogo interno, con secciones en las que el canto se hace más difuso y ensoñador.

Esta música invita a evocar, desde un ángulo puramente imaginario, un ritual arcaico mediterráneo en el que la voz de las jóvenes vestales celebra la belleza, a través de la simplicidad y la inocencia.
