It belongs to the “Archipelago” project, a collection of six works, of which Bluessy is the latest.A vitriolic introduction gives way to a blues, classically based, but which, as the piece progresses, incorporates disruptive discursive elements, placing this blues within a contemporary context. In two surprising interludes, we hear the voices of JFK and M. L. King in phrases taken from famous historical speeches. The choice of these fragments is not accidental, as they engage in antagonistic and ironic dialogue. The result aims to be a tribute to the blues, but with a historical political undertone and a musicality closer to our time. The video’s visual narrative assembles, in a collage-like fashion, short fragments from emblematic classic films. Buster Keaton, Orson Welles, Norman Foster, Bergman, Karloff, Fritz Lang, Bogart, Edward Robinson, Robert Wiene, Mel Brooks, Fred Astaire, etc., are some of those chosen to pay homage to the golden age of an artistic manifestation typical of the 20th century, such as cinema.
